Existing Websites for Other Music Artists
I looked at some other artists' websites to help me gain an understanding of what the conventions are. I have found that the artist almost always has their name at the top of their hompage in a big bold font and it usually goes with a picture of themselves. Eg, the Example homepage above. This makes the original Crystal Castles website even more unusual as they don't have anything like that. This makes me want to provide a more conventional website for the band when I make mine and I will be taking that into consideration. Other artists such as The Cure and Red Hot Chili Peppers, have a design/style rather on their homepage rather than a picture of the band. I think I prefer this and will be taking the inspiration for my own website. All of the websites I looked at have a menu bar including features such as, home, news, tour, videos etc. Other conventions include updates from the artists via Facebook/Twitter, videos and images of the artist and contact details to the artists record label or managment. All of the websites also had a consistent house style, using the same colours and fonts etc.
